Anyone walking through the school building of the Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule on Monday, 28.07.2025, was probably amazed at every turn. Everywhere there were groups of young people of different ages on the move, tackling a Bobbycar or skateboard obstacle course as a team, or playing balloon tennis together. It could even happen that the odd plastic chicken flew through the air – at the plastic chicken throwing contest. The various stations with a wide range of competitions and games were set up in the classrooms, in the corridors and in the school’s sports hall.
This year, the Team Player Day is already entering its second round. The day is organised and run mainly by its initiators, Jannis Krämer and Louise Ehrmann, both teachers at the school. Explaining how the event came about, Jannis Krämer says: „We want to plan a day for the whole community, to establish something that helps the pupils grow together. Teamwork is a particularly important concern for us.“ Louise Ehrmann adds that an event like this helps people identify with the school community. It is meant to be a joint activity for the whole school community, where the young people can get to know one another. The team leaders, made up of various pupils, received additional training this school year. The result was that many teams worked very well together. She adds that the most important aspect should be that everyone meets with respect and openness, shows willingness to help one another, and supports and motivates themselves and their team. Furthermore, it was particularly lovely for her to see how the staff worked together and that you can rely on one another.
This means the entire school community is involved in the event. Every single teacher either looks after a station or is responsible for catering, for example. The extended organising team also includes the teachers Constanze Salomon, Antonios Anastassatos and Natalie Brümmer, as well as trainee teacher Nina Kreuzberger. School social worker Tim Cornelius has also made an important contribution to the success of the Team Player Day, as has Amelie Kößer, who is doing her Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr (voluntary social year) at the school this year. The event was sponsored by the Stadtwerke in Schwäbisch Hall.
To close the day, the entire school community gathered in the Hagenbachstadion, where headteacher Andrea Fürle praised and thanked everyone for the day. A special highlight follows on the last day of school with the prize-giving and awards ceremony for the winning groups.
