On Monday, 6 July 2026, the hall of the Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule was transformed into a magical stage from 5:30 pm. Numerous guests attended the fairy-tale evening and enjoyed a varied programme of music and theatre. Following the performances, the parents’ evening for the new Year 5 classes took place.
The musical opening was provided by the school choir with a fairy-tale musical that they had written and arranged themselves, under the direction of Miriam Bay and Nadja Guttensohn. The pupils taking part came from Years 5 to 7 and impressed the audience with their great commitment. With plenty of humour, rousing songs and a modern message, numerous princesses told their stories – and made it clear that they do not want to be reduced to their appearance. Instead, courage, self-confidence and individuality were at the heart of the performance. Impressive solo singers and dedicated actresses earned enthusiastic applause.
In the second part of the evening, the drama club performed the fairy tale Snow White. Our school is particularly proud that the drama club is run entirely independently by two Year 11 pupils, Fany Alamo and Ronja Berth. With great sense of responsibility and commitment, they organised the rehearsals and developed, together with the younger pupils, a varied and gripping production. The young actresses and actors impressed with great joy in performing and visible enthusiasm. Humorous dwarfs, a convincing Snow White, a wickedly brilliant evil queen and many other lovingly portrayed fairy-tale characters delighted the audience. The well-executed production repeatedly brought hearty laughter and loud applause.
Many people also contributed behind the scenes to the success of the evening. At the start of the school year, Jonas Schickner, Ben Schaefer and Christian Wieland from Year 11 took over the technical side in the hall and ensured a smooth running of the event with lighting and sound. Year 6 looked after the guests’ refreshments by running a drinks stall.
The fairy-tale evening impressively showed how diverse the talents at our school are and how successfully pupils, students and teachers together can bring a demanding programme to the stage. The audience thanked all those involved with long-lasting applause. Afterwards, many parents of future Year 5 pupils took the opportunity to get to know the school at the parents’ evening and receive first information about the start of school.
