Educational concept

\n

Our comprehensive school is a performance-oriented school that supports children and young people with different talents. We offer all children and young people a varied and motivating learning programme in which self-directed learning times and phases of movement and relaxation alternate sensibly with teacher-led lesson phases during the school day. Independent learning takes place just as much as learning together. Both traditional and modern teaching methods are used.

\n \n

The pupils learn with the support and guidance of teachers, who take on different roles: that of learning facilitator, of coach and of the classic teacher.

All-day school

\n \n

At our comprehensive school, lessons take place on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:40 am to 3:25 pm. On Wednesday afternoons, after-school clubs (AGs) are offered until 3:25 pm. On Friday, lessons end at 12:50 pm.

\n \n

Learning times

\n \n

Learning times are phases built into the timetable in which the pupils learn and practise independently and on their own responsibility, under the supervision of their core subject teachers.

\n \n

Individual feedback

\n \n

1. Learning diary

\n \n

The learning diary documents the pupil’s learning goals and learning successes. It is an important tool for the teacher to optimise the child’s learning processes. For parents, it is a source of information about their child’s learning development. In addition, it is a medium for sending a message to the school quickly and easily.

\n \n

2. Learning development report

\n \n

This is a written assessment at the end of each half-year and at the end of the school year of the pupil’s learning and achievement level. Grades are only compulsory in the final school year.

\n \n

Individual support

\n \n

Every pupil is looked after by a teacher. This learning coach regularly advises on questions of individual learning development. This also includes developing personal and social skills. In the following videos, two pupils from our school explain learning coaching in their own words:

Teaching in levels

\n \n

Independent learning takes place at 3 levels: the basic level, which leads to the Hauptschulabschluss (lower secondary leaving certificate), and the intermediate level, which leads to the Realschulabschluss (intermediate secondary leaving certificate). The same final examinations are taken as at the other general secondary schools.

\n \n

An extended level is also offered to ensure the transition to upper secondary education (Sekundarstufe 2).

\n \n

Working together with parents

\n \n

The shared goal is the development and learning success of the pupil. Regular discussions between teachers and parents are necessary for this.

\n \n

Inclusion

\n \n

The inclusion of pupils with disabilities is an integral part of the Gemeinschaftsschule. Teachers and teaching assistants share responsibility for all children together.

\n \n

Elective lessons

\n \n

On Wednesday afternoons, our pupils can take part in an after-school club. There are also activities and places to spend time during every lunch break in the canteen, in the sports hall, in the pupils’ house and in the two railway carriages.

\n \n

Projects

\n \n

Projects are offered in every year group. These include, for example, the study skills training, our career orientation concept, the “Social Commitment” project as well as joint projects with external cooperation partners.

\n \n

Figures

\n \n

In the 2022/23 school year, around 890 pupils attend our school every day. They are taught by approx. 80 teachers.
