In Year 5, our pupils focus in particular on a successful “Ankommen in der GMS” (settling in at the GMS). In everyday school life and also in the methods week, the children learn the way of working at the GMS:
\n
During learning time, the children work alone or with a learning partner on their weekly work plans for German, Mathematics and English. The tasks in these plans are differentiated by level, so that pupils can practise and learn according to their abilities.
\n
In the learning diary, the pupils record their learning progress. They note down important dates and reflect on their learning process. Through the entries made by teachers, both the children and the parents receive regular feedback.
\n
Learning coaching conversations also take place during learning time. In these one-to-one conversations with a learning coach (a teacher at the school), the individual learning process of each child is supported.
\n \nThrough the project “Gemeinsam statt Einsam” (Together Instead of Alone) run by the school social work team, and a weekly class period (class council), the class community is also encouraged and strengthened.
\n \nAs well as a hiking day, a class trip and the annual winter activity day (with the option of a skiing trip), there are other sporting events, including the “Tag des Buches” (Book Day) and the first visit to the “englisches Theater” (English theatre).
