Together with several classmates, the pupils help the museum care for the animals every Wednesday and Thursday morning. We help feed and look after a total of 7 species of animal (cows, sheep, turkeys, geese, rabbits, goats, chickens). For the rabbits, the drinking troughs are cleaned every morning, feed is topped up, and the hutches are mucked out every second week; of course, cuddles are part of the job too.
Similar to the rabbits, here the sheep get feed and hay topped up every Wednesday and Thursday morning. The cows, on the other hand, always have their stalls mucked out and their silage topped up. The turkeys only need mucking out every fourth week; we are not responsible for the turkeys’ feed. Because the geese need free-range time, they are let out while the drinking troughs are cleaned and their feed is topped up.
