1. Geschichte
Out of the support association of the Thomas-Schweicker-Werkrealschule and the friends’ circle of the Leonhard-Kern-Realschule, a new association was formed at the founding meeting in 2018, named „Miteinander für die Gemeinschaftsschule im Schulzentrum West“.
Ulrike Klink was elected chairwoman, and the then head of the Gemeinschaftsschule, Thomas Kuhn, was appointed deputy chairman ex officio. The position of treasurer went to Karlheinz Lang, the headteacher of the former Thomas-Schweicker-Werkrealschule. Constanze Salomon took on the role of secretary. Dagmar Halbländer and Regina Meißner, the former school social worker, became committee members. These six people formed the board in the founding year. Günter Gropper, former deputy headteacher of the Realschule, and Christian Strauch, current deputy headteacher of the Gemeinschaftsschule, complete the body as auditors. In 2021, this team was confirmed with just one change, after the annual general meetings in 2019 and 2020 could not take place because of Corona. In the meantime, the new headteacher of the Gemeinschaftsschule, Andrea Fürle, has taken on the role of deputy chairwoman, and the association has a new name since the school adopted the name Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule.
At the annual general meeting in November 2023, the makeup of the board changed so that parent representatives now have a stronger presence on the committee. Ms Corinna Jurthe was elected as the new 1st chairwoman, and Ines Klenner and Cornelia Kohl were newly elected as committee members.
2. Membership
Former pupils, parents, teachers, as well as friends and patrons of the Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule in the Schulzentrum West can join the support association. The association currently has just under 150 members, who pay an annual membership fee of at least €10, though you are welcome to give more if you wish.
3. Purpose of the association
The association aims to …
- promote and maintain a vibrant school community at the Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule.
- advance the education and upbringing of pupils at the Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule.
- provide financial support to pupils for class projects where needed.
- foster a sense of connection with the school among former pupils.
- support the school’s events, projects and school facilities by helping with planning and organisation and by providing financial assistance.
