“Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Watch your words, for they become actions.”
On the evening of 18.07.2024, it was curtains up for the school community at Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule. The musical “Change the world” was about the power of words. In an amusing way, the play tells the story of a literary competition at a school. The most touching text is to be honored with prize money of 10,000 euros. In addition to lots of wit and humor, the audience is also presented with words that make them think. The play is about the courage to be honest and sincere and also about believing in yourself.
The preparations for the more than 70 pupils from Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule who took part in the musical were exciting right up to the end. It was at least as exciting for the teachers in charge. Nadja Guttensohn, 2nd Vice Principal of the school, directed the choir, Miriam Bay, a teacher at the school, was responsible for the solos, dance and instruments. Teachers Petra Löchner and Kathleen Uttrodt were responsible for the theater.
“Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Watch your words, for they become actions.” Andrea Fürle, Headmistress of Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule, began her speech at the musical evening with these words.
The pupils’ performances delighted the audience across the board. Teacher and coordinator Kathleen Uttrodt drew a very fitting conclusion after the performance: “It fills us with joy to see how the children surpass themselves. How they experience success, train their stamina and also think for others so that the big picture works! We often talk about developing potential – here you can really watch the butterflies hatch!”
