Introducing the Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule

On Saturday, 24.02.2024, the Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule opened its doors for the Open Day. After a successful opening by the  choir of grades 5-7, the opening was given by the principal Andrea Fürle, who paid special tribute to the diversity and colorfulness of this community school. The visitors were then guided through a varied program. Accompanied by singing performances, some of the school’s teachers had their say and spoke on topics such as learning diaries, coaching, project teaching and Erasmus Plus. Head of department Achim Knaak reported on the school’s upper secondary school. The Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule will be taking the Abitur for the first time in 2024. The upper secondary school has now been in existence at this school for three years.

During the expert panel, the interested children were able to take part in various workshops, for example on experimentation, 3D printing or programming. Afterwards, there was the opportunity to take part in a guided tour of the school building or to explore the school itself. In addition to numerous stands, there were several demonstrations or presentations in the classrooms themselves, such as the film project about Johannes Brenz. There was also plenty of information about Spanish and career guidance in the sixth form rooms. In addition to the sixth form, the school’s Montessori course was also extensively presented in its specific rooms.

Louise Ehrmann, a teacher at the school, said when the pupils enrolled: “Your children are the most valuable thing you put in our hands.” Your children’s abilities are the most valuable thing your children bring with them.” “We, the Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule, look forward to accompanying many new fifth graders – and upper school students – in the new school year as they discover their abilities.”
