When Greek gods use social media…

Irritated and horrified, the Greek gods realize that humans no longer seem to be making offerings to them. “What are they doing all day instead?” they ask themselves, and Hermes is sent to Earth to find out the reason for the change in behavior of the human race. He returns with a small, flat box. “This is what humans deal with day and night!” he explains to the perplexed gods. “They call it a cell phone!” As the gods themselves cannot operate the cell phone, two children are brought to Olympus to introduce the gods to the world of cell phones and the internet. “Followers” are needed, the children explain. This is the only way for the gods to regain their former popularity. So Aphrodite soon offers a beauty blog, Hercules promotes body-building and Poseidon water sports activities. All the gods get caught up in the maelstrom of the Internet and forget their actual tasks. They soon get to know the negative sides of the internet: from used-up data volume to bullying. The wise Pallas Athena advises them to throw all cell phones into the underworld, but it seems too late for that: the gods are already too used to cell phones and the Internet. And after all, they also need followers, because they see their purpose in life in being worshipped.
