Pride and anticipation can be read in the faces of the new fifth graders on Monday, September 11, as they are welcomed by their new class teachers and principal Andrea Fürle. In total, there are 127 new pupils who will learn and work individually at the Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule and can try out their own strengths. The teachers’ welcome song “Do what you do best” encourages them on this path.
In her welcoming speech, Andrea Fürle warmly welcomed the children, parents and relatives and was pleased to inform the parents that, despite the shortage of teachers at German schools, there would be no lessons for the new fifth graders at the Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule.
School social workers Katrin Brucker and Tim Cornelius then introduce their work at the school and hand out flyers and business cards to establish contact in advance. While the children move into their new classrooms together with their teachers, parent representative Timo Hack addresses the parents directly and encourages them to get involved in projects and help shape school life.
The fifth-graders now have a week to get to know each other, during which they can meet and get to know each other as a class community in a playful way.
