“Start together, learn together.” True to this motto, starting together is a first and essential building block in the concept of the upper secondary school at the Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule. For this reason, the 11th graders of the community school started the new school year with three get-to-know-you days. On 11.09.2023, 33 of a total of 37 sixth form students met at Schwäbisch Hall-Hessental station and set off on their journey. After arriving in Murrhardt, they set off with their accompanying teachers over hill and dale to the destination of the hike – Ebersberg Castle. After the lunch break, class teacher Jörg Vogt gave them an introduction to the project theme of the three-day visit: “What is the perfect school for me?”. Head of department Achim Knaak then took the pupils on a “values flight” to reflect on which values are important to them and why. The following day, the pupils worked on their project topic. They were also offered a workshop on democracy education by school social worker Tim Cornelius. Elisa Rothenberger, also a teacher at the school, added further workshops on the topic of “mindfulness”. The project presentations on the last day were the grand finale of the familiarization days, before the class teachers Lisa Jährling and Johannes Albert set off on their journey home.
