Farm becomes (adventure) classroom

Class 6a of the Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule traveled by train from Hessental station via Crailsheim to Niederstetten station in the week before the carnival vacations and from there marched on to Pfitzingen. Once there, the class was welcomed as employees of the school farm for the next five days.

After lunch and an initial tour of the farm, the work on the farm began straight away. There were three to four work phases a day in small groups, each lasting two hours. There was a delicious meal and a break between each work phase. “Working in the kitchen is fun. It’s a good feeling when everyone likes what you’ve cooked,” said Omer and Hasan with satisfaction.

In the barn there were cows, calves, goats, sheep, pigs, a horse and chickens, as well as lots of cats. They were mucked out, fed and milked. Everything was explained and shown in detail by the specialists on site. “We milked a cow today!” “And we milked a goat!” was how many described their highlight of the day in the closing circle in the evening. Jana even asked: “Can I please do stable duty again? That was so nice!”

On the day of departure, everyone was happy and satisfied that they had been able to experience and do so many new and exciting things during the week, thanks to the staff at the Pfitzingen school farm! Nobody missed their cell phones, which stayed at home for the entire week!
