Exclusive writing workshop for class 11b

Annphie Fritz and Jennifer Sittler visited our class 11b at the Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule for an exclusive writing workshop. Originally, only Annphie Fritz from the Neuen Globe was supposed to lead the workshop, but to everyone’s surprise, Jennifer Sittler, the director of the theatre production “Die Berufung”, joined as well.

We learned how to start a story in an exciting way and how to describe scenes vividly. The first sentences are especially important in order to captivate readers. We also discussed how to give constructive criticism: you should not only point out mistakes, but also say what has worked well.

One highlight was an exercise on perception. Jennifer Sittler showed us how the impact changes when a character enters a room – depending on posture and gaze, they can appear friendly, insecure or threatening. We also talked about not judging people by their nationality. Jennifer Sittler also told us about her family history and how it influenced her autobiographical play “Die Berufung”. It was two exciting and instructive hours. Many thanks to Annphie Fritz and Jennifer Sittler for this valuable experience!
