In Year 8, a new subject, the “Profilfach” (profile subject), is introduced. The school year is also entirely themed around “Orientation” – orientation with regard to the next stage of school, to choosing a career and to the values of our society. After intensive guidance, all pupils receive a recommendation for their school path at the midpoint of the year.
Career Orientation
The pupils of Year 8 will complete career orientation in the second half of the school year in the subjects German and WBS. To do this, they will explore workplaces together, visit the Careers Information Centre, create application folders, simulate job interviews in a role-play and prepare and carry out their two work placements. In addition, an individual profile showing cross-curricular and career-related skills will be systematically created as part of the “Kompetenzanalyse Profil AC” (skills analysis).
Profile Subject
At our school, pupils can choose from the following profile subjects: Sport, Music, IMP (Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics) and NwT (Natural Science and Technology).
Highlights
The pupils enjoy a cultural highlight. For example, they travel to the opera in Stuttgart or something similar. In addition, a multi-day study trip to Strasbourg takes place as part of French lessons.
