In the upper school, the aim is to reach the general Abitur (university entrance qualification) within three years.
Einführungsphase
In the introductory phase (Year 11), the focus at the start is on getting to know each other in the new classes (3-day trip) and settling into the upper school. In terms of subjects, in Year 11 the aim is to gradually reach the level needed for the sixth-form courses. All pupils work with iPads, which the school provides permanently. In the second half of Year 11, the courses for the second phase are chosen.
Qualifizierungsphase
In the qualification phase (Years 12 and 13, sixth form), lessons take place in relatively small courses (major and basic subjects). During the two-year academic preparation for the Abitur exams, pupils are already busily collecting points towards the Abitur, as the performance in the four half-years already accounts for two thirds of the overall Abitur grade.
Zusätzliche Angebote
The journey through our upper school is accompanied by a wide range of opportunities. Careers and university guidance is an especially important part of this. Alongside initial workshops in the introductory phase, there are regular impulses to help pupils look ahead to their future. In Year 12, research workshops and further information events follow. In addition, regular on-site consultation hours with careers and university advisers from the Employment Agency make it possible for pupils to receive intensive advice and to explore their individual wishes and interests. A particular highlight is certainly our careers and university fair, where companies and universities present their study and career options in a way that is close to pupils.
