The week in Helsinki was packed with insights and inspiration. A training course on the Finnish school system introduced us to the key features of the Finnish education system. Project-based learning, interdisciplinary learning, “Design Thinking” (solving problems), STEAM (STEM lessons with art) and “Positive Education” play a major role here. We were encouraged by the positive feedback and confirmation of our way of working at the Gemeinschaftsschule, which gave us the impression that we are on the right track as a Gemeinschaftsschule. In exchanges with colleagues from other European countries (France, Hungary, Slovenia, Germany, Poland, Spain), it becomes clear that we are already working ahead of the curve with the Gemeinschaftsschule. Inspired and with many new tools and methods in our bags, we look back gratefully on this wonderful opportunity for European exchange.
