„Pay attention to your thoughts, for they become words. Pay attention to your words, for they become actions.”
The curtain went up on the evening of 18 July 2024 for the school community of the Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule. The musical “Change the world” was about the power of words. In an amusing way, the play tells the story of a literary competition at a school. The most moving text is to be honoured with a prize of 10,000 euros. Alongside plenty of wit and humour, the audience was also treated to words that invite reflection. The play deals with the courage to be honest and sincere, and also with believing in yourself.
Preparations were exciting right up until the end for the more than 70 pupils of the Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule who took part in the musical. They were just as exciting for the teachers in charge. Nadja Guttensohn, Deputy Headteacher of the school, led the choir, while Miriam Bay, a teacher at the school, was responsible for the solos, dance and instruments. The teachers Petra Löchner and Kathleen Uttrodt took charge of the drama.
„Pay attention to your thoughts, for they become words. Pay attention to your words, for they become actions.” With these words, Andrea Fürle, Headteacher of the Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule, began her speech on the evening of the musical.
The pupils’ performances delighted the audience from start to finish. Teacher and coordinator Kathleen Uttrodt drew a very apt conclusion after the performance: “It fills us with joy to see how the children grow beyond themselves. How they experience success, train perseverance, and also think of others so that the big picture works! Much is said about unlocking potential – here you can really watch the butterflies emerge!”
