Impressions from the visit to the Kaufmännische Wirtschaftsschule in Hagenbacher Ring as part of our cooperation.
On 12.12.24, a new kind of cooperation between the Kaufmännische Schule and the Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule at the Schulzentrum West took place for the first time.
After a warm welcome by the headteacher, Frau Niederberger, Herr Hoffmann and trainees, the pupils were divided into teams by the two classes that are in the final year of their training as Kaufmann/-frau für Büromanagement (office management clerks).
Afterwards, all our Year 9 classes had the opportunity, in a rotating system, to get an insight into the large vocational school centre and its range of courses. The school grounds rally gave insights into the “Gewerbliche” school, the Sibylla Egen School and the commercial school building, including fun skill challenges on the “heißer Draht” (buzz wire game). There was also extensive insight into commercial careers from the trainees on site, as well as further education options, and they also chatted openly about what it was like to move from school into an apprenticeship.

Things got practical at the companies Kärcher and Optima, with a 3D model kit and a paper plane challenge, including a trade licence and necessary calculations. It was very interesting for the accompanying teachers to see the different implementation ideas the two classes had for the cooperation.
Everyone involved was delighted with the experience gained, the insights into professional and school options, and the exchange with the trainees on site. During the farewell, a few prizes were handed out – the Kahoot quiz was the clear favourite.
In conversation with our pupils, it became clear that it was surprising how large the site actually is, that the atmosphere was very relaxed and appealing, and it was also confirmed that the planned training as an office management clerk is the right choice for them, and that the practical part in the morning was “totally cool”.
Everyone agreed that this was a worthwhile and valuable event, with the wish for another edition next year.
