How does a story get into a book?

Writing stories is by no means “out” and, despite the competition from entertainment on smartphones, pupils keep writing interesting, exciting or touching stories, not only in German lessons.

How do stories make their way into a book? That was the question the pupils of class M56 at the Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule had. And they received a competent answer: Dr. Matthias Slunitschek from the Haller Molino Verlag explained, in a highly entertaining and enthusiastic way, how a book is made. From the original text to the display in the bookshop, many people are involved: proofreaders, illustrators, editors, printers. In total, 15 people are involved in the creation of a book, and it often takes more than a year until it is ready.

Many of the pupils in class M56 are enthusiastic story writers and, after the talk, were able to read their texts aloud and get tips from the expert. The publisher listened carefully and gave detailed, knowledgeable feedback. The authors also learned, for example, what a cliffhanger is, how it can work to “play” with the reader, or how to draw the reader so far into the world of the story in the best case that they forget the time while reading.

Class M56 would like to thank them warmly for their visit.
