„Applause, applause for your achievement…“ sing the teachers of classes nine and ten of the Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule on Friday, 17 July. It is the joint graduation ceremony for the examinees of the 9th and 10th classes in the school’s hall, and thus an important moment for the young people as they leave the school bench behind for the workbench of a carpentry workshop, the counter of the Kreissparkasse, or continue at school towards the Fachabitur or the general university entrance qualification.
\n \nOne thing is certain: the first stage of schooling is complete, and that certainly deserves a hearty round of applause.
\n \nThe pupils of the six 9th classes, the Montessori class and the four 10th classes celebrated their graduation together. In total, 117 young people received their leaving certificates. Parents, siblings, friends and numerous teachers accompanied them on this journey.
\n \nThe ceremony was opened musically by the school band under the direction of Markus Schneider. The pupil Pauline Große (10c) then gave a personal look back at the past school years, speaking to the guests on behalf of her year group. Various contributions from the 9th and 10th classes, as well as from the form teachers, provided moments that were thoughtful, but also humorous.
\n \nThe highlight of the evening was the presentation of certificates. First, the pupils of classes 9a to 9f and of the Montessori class received their leaving certificates from the school management and their form teachers. After a performance by the Hip-Hop club led by Stella Di Mauro and Olta Meha (both 9f), the chair of the parents’ council, Michael Böltz, offered his congratulations to the graduates and their families. Afterwards, the leaving certificates of classes 10a to 10d were handed out.
\n \nA particular highlight was the honouring of pupils who had distinguished themselves through outstanding achievements or special commitment. The social awards went to Stiliyan Ivanov (9a), Quentin Lusk (9e), Fiona Kodrolli (10c) and Pauline Große (10c). With this award, the school recognises young people who take on responsibility and make a special contribution for their fellow pupils and school life.
\n \nPauline Große (10c), Nico Schieber (10a) and Samuel Laitenberger (10a) were also honoured for their excellent school results. The best overall average among the Hauptschulabschluss graduates was achieved by Sara Bausch (M9), with 1.7, and among the Realschulabschluss graduates by Monja Stoll (10a), with an average grade of 1.4.
\n \nTo conclude, headteacher Andrea Fürle addressed the graduates. She encouraged the young people to continue on their chosen path with curiosity, courage and confidence.
\n \nAccompanied musically by the Profilfach choir under the direction of Jannis Krämer, the ceremony ended with long-lasting applause.
\n \nWith the successful completion of their school leaving qualifications, an important chapter of life ends for the young people. At the same time, a new one begins. The Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule bid farewell to its graduates with the best wishes for their future life paths.
