“Berlin, here we come!” rang out on 9 October 2023, as classes 9a, b, c and d set off in two coaches with 99 pupils in total, accompanied by seven dedicated teachers, to spend an eventful week in Berlin. After a long coach journey, we arrived tired but excited at our colourful hostel Happy Go Lucky.
We rounded off the first day with a visit to the pupils’ disco Matrix, which turned out to be a brilliant start to the week ahead. In the days that followed, one highlight followed another.
We visited the impressive East Side Gallery, went on an interesting boat trip on the Spree and satisfied our hunger with juicy burgers and veggie burgers at the Diner 66. A special evening was our visit to the Friedrichstadt-Palast, where we got to experience the captivating show Falling in Love.
Attending a plenary session of the German Bundestag, we immersed ourselves in political life and were able to experience the work of the members of parliament up close. The week of exciting experiences concluded with a guided tour of the Hohenschönhausen Memorial, a former Stasi prison in the GDR. We will probably remember that for a long time too. Our study trip to Berlin gave us the opportunity to learn more about our country and its history and was at the same time an unforgettable experience that we will keep in good memory. Berlin is really worth a trip.
