On Saturday, 24 February 2024, the Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule opened its doors for its Open Day. After a successful opening performance by the choir of years 5 to 7, the headteacher Andrea Fürle welcomed everyone and особенно praised the diversity and colourfulness of this comprehensive school. The visitors were then guided through a varied programme. Framed by singing performances, several teachers spoke and gave talks on topics such as learning diaries, coaching, project-based learning or Erasmus Plus. Head of Department Achim Knaak reported on the sixth form of this school. At the Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule, the Abitur will be taken for the first time in 2024. The sixth form has now existed at this school for three years.
During the expert round, interested children could take part in various workshops, for example on experimenting, 3D printing or programming. Afterwards, there was the opportunity to join a tour of the school building or to explore the school on your own. Besides numerous stalls, there were some demonstrations and presentations in the classrooms themselves, such as on the film project about Johannes Brenz. In addition, the sixth form rooms offered plenty of information on the Spanish subject and on career guidance. Alongside the sixth form, the school’s Montessori strand was also presented in detail in its own rooms.
Louise Ehrmann, a teacher at the school, said to the pupils and their parents at registration: „Your children are the most valuable thing you entrust to our care.“ The abilities of your children are the most valuable thing your children bring with them. We at the Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule are delighted to accompany many new Year 5 pupils – and sixth form pupils – as they discover their abilities in the new school year.”
