Mobbing&Du – The Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule takes a stand against bullying

„Mobbing&Du – schau hin und nicht zu“ (“Bullying&You – look closely and don’t look away”) is a school-based bullying prevention programme.  Since the start of this school year, the Johannes-Brenz-Gemeinschaftsschule in Schwäbisch Hall has been taking part in this programme. Bullying can cause a great deal of suffering and have a negative effect on the whole school climate. The prevention programme, which was developed by the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry department of the Heidelberg University Hospital, is based on the principle that every individual plays a role in bullying and that, at the same time, every individual can do something about it.  In the fourth module of the prevention programme, class 5a learned about the different roles in the bullying cycle. For this, the class created freeze-frame tableaux for various case studies, which were then discussed in depth. The session concluded with the question of what each individual person in the respective case study can concretely do to stop bullying. The programme works not only with the pupils but also with all teachers. They are empowered to recognise, stop and prevent bullying. A school-based core team, made up of a group of teachers and the school social work service, acts as a guide for the school and coordinates the implementation of the programme.
